How much does junk removal cost in Kansas City?

Junk removal in Kansas City is priced by volume — meaning the amount of space your items take up in our truck. A single-item pickup (one appliance or piece of furniture) typically runs $75–$150. A quarter-truck load runs $150–$250, a half-truck $250–$400, and a full truckload $400–$600+. Specialty items like hot tubs and large appliances may have a higher base rate. We give you a written quote on-site before we start — no surprises.

Do you charge a travel fee or fuel surcharge?

No. A Plus Junk Removal KC does not charge travel fees, fuel surcharges, or distance fees for any of the 12 communities in our service area. The price you see is the price you pay.

Do I have to pay before the job is done?

No. We give you the estimate after we see the job, you approve it, and then we do the work. Payment is collected when the job is complete and you're satisfied with the result. We accept cash, check, and most major credit cards.

What if I have more junk than I expected?

If the volume turns out to be larger than our initial estimate, we'll tell you before we load anything extra. We never add charges without asking first. You always stay in control of the final price.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes — 100% free, no strings attached. We come out, look at what you have, and give you a written price. If you decide not to move forward, there's no charge and no pressure. We want to earn your business, not trap you into it.

What items will you haul away?

We haul almost everything: furniture (sofas, mattresses, beds, dressers), appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers), hot tubs, yard waste and debris, construction materials, boxes and household clutter, electronics, exercise equipment, and general garage or storage unit contents. What items can you NOT take?

There are a few items we can't legally haul: hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, solvents, motor oil), asbestos materials, medical waste, and propane tanks. If you have hazardous materials, we can point you to the appropriate Jackson County or Cass County disposal facility.

Do you do estate cleanouts?

Yes. Estate cleanout is one of our most-requested services. We work respectfully and efficiently to clear a property after a loved one has passed or an estate needs to be cleared for sale. We can remove all remaining furniture, appliances, clothing, and general household items in a single visit.

Can you handle a hoarder cleanout?

Yes. Hoarder cleanouts are something we're experienced with. We approach every job with professionalism and zero judgment. These jobs often require multiple truckloads and a full day or more — we'll walk through the property with you, give you an accurate estimate, and set a clear plan before we begin.

Do you remove hot tubs?

Yes. Hot tub removal requires specialized work — the tub needs to be drained, disassembled if necessary, and removed carefully without damaging your deck or yard. We have the equipment and experience to handle it. Hot tub removal is typically priced higher than standard junk removal due to the labor involved.

Can you remove a single item, like just one couch?

Absolutely. Single-item pickups are common. We'll give you an honest price for a single sofa, mattress, appliance, or piece of furniture. No need to fill a truck to call us.

Do you offer commercial junk removal?

Yes. We work with businesses, landlords, property managers, and commercial property owners throughout the east KC metro. Office cleanouts, retail space clearing, construction debris removal, and property turnovers are all services we offer for commercial clients.

Scheduling & Process

How does the junk removal process work?

It's three steps: (1) Call or fill out our online form to schedule a free onsite estimate. (2) We come to you, look at the job, and give you a written price. If you approve it, we haul everything away right then — no second trip needed. (3) We load up the truck, sweep up, and you're done. Payment at completion.

How quickly can you come out?

We often have same-day availability for customers in Independence, Sugar Creek, Raytown, and east Kansas City. For farther communities like Oak Grove, Belton, and Raymore, next-day service is typical. Call 816-588-2505 to check our current availability.

Do I need to be home during the pickup?

For the initial estimate, yes — we need you or an authorized adult present so we can walk through the job and get approval on the price. For the actual pickup, you're welcome to leave after approving the quote if you need to, as long as we have access to the items.

Do I need to move the items to the curb first?

No. We haul from anywhere on your property — garage, basement, attic, backyard, wherever the items are. Full-service removal means we do all the lifting and carrying. You don't need to move anything.

What are your hours?

We operate 7 days a week, 9 AM to 5 PM. That includes weekends and most holidays. Call or submit a form anytime — we respond to inquiries within the hour during business hours.

Do you serve the west side of Kansas City?

Our primary coverage is the east metro, and we do not regularly serve Overland Park, Lenexa, or other Johnson County Kansas communities. However, if you're in western KCMO or just outside our listed area, call us at 816-588-2505 — if you're within a reasonable distance of Independence, we'll do our best to make it work.

Are there extra charges for farther cities like Oak Grove or Belton?

No. Every community in our 12-city service area is included in our standard pricing. There are no travel fees, fuel surcharges, or distance premiums for any of the cities we serve.

Recycling & Disposal

What happens to my junk after you haul it away?

We sort your items before disposal. Furniture and household goods in usable condition are donated to local Kansas City area charities. Electronics are taken to certified e-waste recyclers. Metals are separated for recycling. Only items that can't be donated or recycled go to the landfill — we try to keep that number as low as possible.

Do you recycle appliances?

Yes. Appliances contain refrigerants, metals, and plastics that can be recycled. We take appliances to certified appliance recyclers. Freon-containing units (refrigerators, AC units, dehumidifiers) are handled in compliance with EPA regulations.

Can you donate usable furniture instead of throwing it away?

Yes, and we prefer to. If your furniture is in donatable condition, we'll route it to local Kansas City area charities and thrift stores. Just let us know when you call or when we're on-site, and we'll do our best to find it a new home instead of a landfill.
